Hi All,

bought this at an auction with the fuel gauge on full. It did not take me
long to realize it was almost empty. My mechanic want to pull off the tank
(obviously so he can charge me a bunch of cash). I suspect this is a simple
fuse problem. Anybody with any ideas i can use.

regards

I don't have an electrical diagram handy; so I'm can only say that in
general this sort of think is caused by a bad ground at the sender on the
gas tank. On a metal tank the circuit depends on the sender being grounded
through the tank itself. Often the mating surface between tank and sender
get rusted and the ground is lost. If you have a plastic tank look for a
disconnected or corroded ground strap or simply try running a new ground
wire to the metal part of the sender. That will work as a test on the a
metal tank too.
